Tips for saving money
Check out our Hallelujah
Diet Starter Pack for a great way to get started as soon as possible.
Juicers
- George Malkmus recommends either the
Champion or Green Life Juicer. We encourage you to consider the Champion juicer. It
is only half the price of the Green Life juicer, and is a great
machine. The primary disadvantage is the speed at which the
blades turn, which tends to generate heat. However, you can keep
your carrot juice cool by feeding the carrots through the hopper in a
consistent manner.
- Do not purchase the Green Power juicer
unless you want the juicer to be an all purpose kitchen
appliance. The Green Life and Green Power juicers are almost
identical except the Green Power has more features.
- If you already have a cheaper juicer (centrifugal),
consider using it for a while. The juice will still do you a lot
of good. Put off the purchase of a juicer until you are sure you
want to stick with the diet.
- Advertise for a used juicer.
Likely, someone in your church may already have one. The
unfortunate truth is that most juicers that are sold end up on shelves
within a few months. We keep a current list of available used
juicers here.
Carrots
- Buy from farmers markets. You may
be able to purchase large quantities for low prices, and can grill the
farmer to find out what farming methods were used. In some
cases, you might even be able to get organic carrots.
- Purchase in bulk from your health
store. Ask your store if you can purchase 50 lbs of carrots
instead of just five. They likely get a sack containing 10
five-pound sacks of carrots which they might be willing to sell to you
at a significant savings.
- If the price becomes an issue, just buy
regular carrots instead of organic. While not ideal, it is
better than not drinking carrot juice at all.
